Yoga for Beginners

Come learn the basics of a yoga flow lesson. Every class is customized for all levels of yoga practitioners. We discuss alignment, pranayama breathing, and focus your yoga practice on what you can accomplish in the moment during each class. Your yoga progression is based on your own development and not on achieving “a yoga pose”.



Yoga poses

Here are some fundamental yoga poses that are used in a yoga flow class but class sequencing varies from lesson to lesson.


Balasana: Child's Pose

A resting a grounding pose used in every class.

Adho Mukha Svanasana: Downward Facing Dog

This pose lengthens the spine and opens the back of the legs. It also helps build strength in the upper body.

Virabhadrasana I: Warrior 1

Strengthens your shoulders, arms, legs, ankles and back.
Opens yours hips, chest and lungs and improves focus, balance and stability.

Virabhadrasana 2: Warrior 2

Stretches your hips, groins and shouldersOpens your chest and lungs and builds stamina and concentration.

Anjaneyasana: Lunge Pose

This pose stretches the hips, gluteus muscles, psoas, and quadriceps while improving balance, concentration and core awareness.

Bhujangasana: Cobra Pose

Stretches muscles in the shoulders, chest and abdominals.
Decreases stiffness of the lower back and strengthens gluteus muscles, arms, and shoulders.

Gomukhasana: Cow Face Pose with Eagle Arms

Opens the arms, shoulders, chest, hips, and gluteus muscles.

Supta Matsyendrasana: Reclined Spinal Twist

A supine spinal twist that lengthens and strengthens the spine while massaging and detoxifying the internal organs. It is a good pose for relieving back pain and tight shoulders.

Savasana: Corpse Pose

It relaxes your whole body and releases stress, fatigue, depression ,and tension.
Calms the mind and improves mental health.
